We delivered a streamlined migration to Citrix CVAD 1912 LTSR while aligning with the client’s newly upgraded HCI infrastructure:

  • New Citrix PVS deployment to 1912 LTSR for reliable image provisioning
  • Migrated from Citrix UPM to FSLogix and Citrix WEM for efficient user profile and resource management.
  • Deployed new HA NetScaler ADCs (internal and DMZ) to support secure remote access and load balancing.
  • Implemented upgraded DUO MFA, integrated with external NetScaler ADCs for enhanced authentication.
  • Ensured redundancy across all components.
  • Standardised all Citrix components on Windows Server 2019 to ensure optimal compatibility and performance and avoid known compatiblity issues with Windows 2016 Server and MS Office that would only be resolved in Server 2019.
  • Leveraged the client’s existing VMware ESXi-based Cisco HyperFlex all-flash HCI platform for backend hosting


Execution and Outcome

Comprehensive user acceptance testing (UAT) ensured that the new platform delivered measurable improvements in speed, reliability, and experience. MS Teams, a late-stage requirement, was quickly integrated into the final golden image.

The new solution went live just weeks before the UK’s first COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. Thanks to the robust deployment and integrated remote access via Citrix and DUO, the firm transitioned seamlessly to a fully remote workforce—without disruption.

As companies have pivoted and embraced a hybrid work style the platform continues to support hybrid work securely, efficiently, and with the confidence of full vendor support.

An accountancy firm was operating on a legacy Citrix XenApp 6.5 environment paired with Windows Server 2008 R2 as they’re core application delivery solution. As both Citrix and Microsoft support neared end-of-life, performance and reliability issues became increasingly common—impacting staff productivity and exposing the business to serious security risks.
